Snap Eyes Possible Drone

Maker Of Snapchat Reportedly Considering New Hardware

It seems everyone wants to try to cash in on the drone craze. One of the latest, according to a report from The New York Times, is Snap, the company that brought Snapchat to the social media world.

Snap developed Snapchat, a smartphone app that sends disappearing messages, images and videos between its users. More recently, it introduced Spectacles ... wearable tech that captures short videos from the wearer's point of view. The drone would be an extension of the company's foray into the camera business.

While it is unclear if the drone will ever reach the market, the New York Times reports that it does give an indication of the direction in which the company appears to be headed.

The company went public on Thursday at $17 per share, and the stock quickly rose. In a video produced for investors for the IPO, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel said that "reinventing the camera represents our greatest opportunity to improve the way that people live and communicate."
