Sleep With the Warbirds This Weekend

Camping, Auction, Great Times at Warbird Museum

Fly into Kissimmee Gateway Airport (ISM) for a weekend of fun the your way to (or, better yet, instead of) Sun 'n Fun.

All pilots are invited to Tie Down and Fuel Up at the Flying Tigers Warbird Restoration Museum’s Annual Aviation Auction, this Sunday, March 30th. Each year warbirds from all over the country gather at the Warbird Museum to enjoy a good meal, cheap fuel, great stories and the opportunity to acquire incredible deals on aviation/military memorabilia, equipment, manuals parts, art work, old books, vintage jewelry and rarities of all kinds at the Annual Aviation Auction.  Pilots and planes of all types are invited to join in on the fun. Come to the Auction on Sunday and tie down for FREE Sunday night. Fill Up with Fuel and receive FREE admission to the fantastic, working Warbird Museum.

No where else can you fly into an airport rich with the history that Hollywood has made vogue recently. The Warbird Museum has dozens of vintage planes either going through the restoration process or waiting for their turn to be renewed. Several bombers and fighters on the field are in flying condition and can be seen gracing the skies over central Florida as they did six decades ago.

Meet author Ron Drez, too:

Warbirds and their pilots will be coming to the Museum not only for the Annual Aviation Auction on Sunday but also to meet author Ron Drez, author of “Voices of D-Day” and “25 Yards of War.” People know him from his collaborations and partnership with the late famed historian Stephen Ambrose, author of Band of Brothers, D-Day to the Rhine, Citizen Soldier, The Wild Blue (about B-24 pilots) and the inspiration for Saving Private Ryan. Ron will be at the Museum March 29th and 30th for the Annual Aviation Auction to sign his books and share his collected stories. Ron directs tours of D-Day, Market Garden and Bastogne for Ambrose Historical Tours as well as being lecturer, historian and researcher at the Eisenhower Center in New Orleans.
