Avantair Is First To Deploy Jeppesen's New 'e-Chart Viewer'

New Digital Navigation Solution For Business Aviation Operators

Jeppesen has taken chart viewing and updating to a new level with the introduction Tuesday of a new digital charting solution for the business aviation community – Jeppesen eChart Viewer. The Web-based digital charting solution provides online chart access worldwide and includes an auto-update service that eliminates the need for manual chart updates. The online capability now allows pilots to print charts on-the-go from any computer and serves as a valuable pre-flight planning tool. Jeppesen eChart Viewer also offers enhanced Jeppesen Airway Manual text in HTML format and provides enhanced IFR and VFR chart viewing and search capabilities.

Jeppesen introduced the new eChart Viewer service to the marketplace in coordination with a public signing of a service agreement today with Avantair, the only publicly traded stand-alone private aircraft operator, the initial customer of the digital charting service. Avantair is a U.S.-based provider of fractional aircraft ownership and flight hour time cards with a fleet of 50+ aircraft. Prior to the service agreement signing, Jeppesen previously developed a short-term custom digital charting solution for Avantair, to resolve an immediate operational need. This system allowed Avantair to securely and seamlessly access updated electronic terminal charts and other flight information online.

“We are extremely pleased with the Jeppesen digital charting service that we have instituted at Avantair, especially considering the rapid timeframe that was in place for developing and implementing the service for our jet fleet,” said Steven Santo, Avantair founder and CEO. “We now look forward to a long-standing partnership with Jeppesen with our eChart Viewer digital chart information solution in place that works to streamline operational efficiency and reduce costs overall.”

The introduction of Jeppesen eChart Viewer helps business aviation operators transition to the use of digital flight information instead of paper-based materials on the flight deck, which increases the speed and organization of information delivery.

“We are proud to introduce Avantair today as our initial eChart Viewer customer as they take advantage of the operational benefits provided by our new digital charting services, said Mark Van Tine, Jeppesen president and CEO. “Jeppesen eChart Viewer now provides the business aviation community with a means for operating digitally and has eliminated the need for manual updates.”
