Airbus Corporate Jets Reports Sale of ACJTwoTwenty

Comlux Cabin Outfitter to Design Cabin Interior

Airbus Corporate Jets announced the sale of their newest, most advanced business jet, the ACJTwoTwenty, to an undisclosed buyer somewhere in the USA. Once produced, the plane will be delivered “in the green” to partner company Comlux, the exclusive cabin outfitter for the first 15 ACJTwoTwenty aircraft.

Comlux prides itself on being what they call more than a simple completion center or operator, but a design studio as well. Their partnership with Airbus as the launching customer has allowed them free reign in creating a series of interior layouts and furnishings. At 2021’s NBAA-BACE, Richard Gaona, Executive Chairman and CEO at Comlux, presented a series of cabin configurations, design options, ambiances, and furniture created by his company. With an enviable position of painting a clean canvas, Comlux has been able to create a number of features infrequently seen on similar class aircraft. With the AJCTwoTwenty’s 6 living areas, they were able to create over 100+ variations in cabin layout, including one special cabin edition offered through collaboration with French designer, painter and graffiti artist Cyril Kongo.

Expected to complete certification in early 2023, the MOU signed with the first U.S. customer marks a major milestone in the aircraft’s development. The ACJTwoTwenty, a derivative of the A220, targets a niche they refer to as “the Xtra Large Bizjet” market segment, combining a 19-passenger interior and a 5,600+ nautical mile range. Airbus touts the size efficiency of its design, showing attendees examples of the parking footprint and taxi radius alongside competitor aircraft. The result, they report, offers 3 times the cabin space of a traditional design. Further news to come, as production and the certification process continue.
