Aero-News Proudly Introduces Our AirVenture 2008 Staff

Say Hello To Maxine Scheer And Scott Wagner!

With the final days before the official start to EAA AirVenture 2008 counting down all too rapidly... and, not quickly enough... ANN's senior staff is all-too-aware of the Herculean task ahead of us in reporting EVERYTHING that's news at The World's Greatest Aviation Celebration.

Fortunately, this year we'll have some help... and some really GREAT help at that. Over the next several days, we thought we'd take the time to introduce you to the staff members -- both full-time, as well as our "stringers" -- who will be bringing our readers and listeners all the news from Oshkosh that's fit to pixilate, orate and videotape this year.

And now, without further ado...

Maxine Scheer

Maxine Scheer has honed her aviation skills over the last 26 years working on the planning and development of the necessary and the sometimes frustrating montage of buildings and pavement we call airports. Her assignments have taken her as far west as Manila, and as far south as Tierra del Fuego -- and to the farthest reaches of Wittman Field, where Maxine first joined the ANN team as a stringer at Oshkosh 2007.

These days, she spends her time doing research on the airport industry and brainwashing her two young boys with way too many toy airplanes and frequent visits to the airport. Maxine holds a B.S. in Aeronautical Studies from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where she also earned her Private Pilot Certificate.

Scott Wagner

Born into an aviation family, Scott Wagner has been in love with flying machines since before he could say "airplane”. A third-generation aviator, Scott is an instrument rated Private Pilot. In the near future, he plans to finally complete work on his Commercial and CFI tickets, and provide instruction in taildraggers and light-sport aircraft. He has assisted in the construction and restoration of several projects, and plans to one day build or restore one of his own. Obsessed with history, Scott can usually be found lurking in the Warbird and Vintage areas at AirVenture.

Scott has been writing for ANN since AirVenture 2006, and brings you the daily Aero-Linx and Aero-Terms features. However, due to unfortunate circumstances beyond his control, Scott will not be onsite at this year’s rendition of "The World’s Greatest Aviation Celebration”. He will, however, be working behind the scenes to assist Jim, Rob and the rest of the ANN crew in covering everything Oshkosh has to offer.

When not reading, writing, dreaming about or committing aviation, Scott is an Investigator for the US Office of Personnel Management, where his office is located 300 feet BGL (that’s right, BELOW ground level) in an old limestone mine that has been converted into office space. His previous careers include broadcasting, information technology security and telecommunications technical support. Just prior to his current gig at OPM, he served three years as a Lead Screener with everyone’s favorite doormat, the Transportation Security Administration. (Please don’t hold that against him, he was smart and got out!)

Scott lives in Pittsburgh, with his wife, Tina, and daughters Alyssa and Abigail.
