Mid-Continent Instruments Offers New Digital AHRS

AX1 Comes From Italy's Axitude

Mid-Continent Instruments has spent years examining Attitude and Heading Reference Systems (AHRS) and solid-state digital technology. Monday at NBAA 2008, Mid-Continent introduced an ETSO certified AHRS, the AX1.

Versatile in design, the AX1 proves navigation system retrofits are both feasible and affordable. It allows aircraft owners to select the Primary Flight Display (PFD) that meets their individual preferences or requirements, while the AX1 provides critical attitude and navigational output.

"We are thrilled to finally offer an AHRS that meets our high standards of reliability," said Todd Winter, President of Mid-Continent Instruments. "State of the art engineering and advanced testing prove that this product can meet some of the most demanding general aviation customer requirements for both fixed wing and rotorcraft applications."

The AX1 provides primary and/or redundant attitude heading reference to glass panel retrofit installations. It utilizes enhanced performance Kalman Filter algorithms, high stability MEMS technology, integrity monitoring and performance unaffected by high vibration environments. The AX1 is dependable and value priced for general aviation aircraft.

It has ETSO approval and is certified to RTCA (DO-178B, -160D, -254) and TSO (C4c and C6d) approvals. Bilateral FAA TSO approval is pending.

Mid-Continent Instruments is the exclusive United States distributor for the AX1 AHRS, manufactured by Axitude, an avionics design and manufacturing company based in Naples, Italy. Future availability of the AX2 model, an ARINC 429 compatible product featuring a remote flux valve, is expected in 2009.
