Balloting On Three-Year Contract Opens September 13
The pilots of ExpressJet Airlines Inc., represented by the Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) have reached a tentative agreement (TA) on a new three-year contract. The pilots’ elected leaders voted last week to send the TA to its members for a ratification vote after determining the agreement included the market-rate wages, stronger job security, and enhanced work rules sought by the pilots.
“The gains we’ve achieved in this tentative agreement recognize the ExpressJet pilots’ continued professionalism while at the same time giving ExpressJet management the secure financial foundation for future growth and expansion,” said First Officer Joe Mauro, chairman of the ExpressJet ALPA Master Executive Council. “The goal was to maintain the industry-leading cornerstones of our contract while achieving improvements for every pilot on our seniority list, regardless of how long they have been with the airline. While it was not easy, I believe we accomplished that.”
Pilot leaders will host a series of road shows, all-pilot conference calls, and crew room visits to educate the pilots on the merits of the agreement before a ratification vote opens September 13.
Flying as United Express, ExpressJet is based in College Park, GA, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of SkyWest Inc. ExpressJet pilots currently operate under a concessionary contract negotiated in 2004 and have been in negotiations with the company since 2010.
