AeroSports Update: Avionics Help For Homebuilders

Advanced Flight Systems Can Help The Aircraft Homebuilder With The Complexity Of Avionics Installations

Anyone who has homebuilt an aircraft has found they feel comfortable with some areas of the process, but need help in other areas. The installation of the aircraft electrical system and avionics is commonly a stumbling block.

Advanced Flight Systems has found a way to help the builder install an aircraft’s modern avionics and electrical system while reducing time, complication, and frustration. Their well-engineered instrument panels are professionally wired, configured, tested and ready to install.

They call their line of pre-built instrument panels the Quick Panel System, which is a line of completely pre-built avionics panels. All avionics, including the aircraft’s autopilot servos, trim servos and lights are wired to the new Advanced Control Module. This new Advanced Control Module, the heart of the Quick Panel System, integrates circuit protection, panel dimmer controller, flap controller, trim controller, Wig-Wag controller, EFIS networking and a panel switch interface.

Rob Hickman, President of AFS, states that "The combination of the new Advanced Control Module and production line manufacturing techniques results in a lower cost yet higher quality panel. It saves the builder hundreds of hours in wiring, crimping, and troubleshooting."

Since 1999, Advanced Flight Systems has designed and/or manufactured innovative avionics for Certified, Light Sport and Experimental aircraft. Founded by Rob Hickman, an electrical engineer, RV-4 and RV-10 builder, and a 1,900 hour IFR rated pilot, AFS focuses on leading-edge avionics with "a pilot's touch". AFS is part of the Dynon family of aviation companies.
