Possible Plane Debris Discovered In Calhoun, TN

FAA Investigating Parts That May Have Fallen From A Delta 717

FAA investigators were called to a farm in Calhoun, TN Thursday to look at possible debris from an airplane that was discovered in the farmer's field.

It is possible that the part fell from a Delta Boeing 717 last week, according to television station WTVC. Last Sunday, a Delta flight en route to Chicago from Atlanta was forced to make an emergency landing in Nashville after it hit turbulence over Cleveland, TN, which caused an engine cover to separate from the airplane. None of the 109 passengers on the airplane were injured.

The farmer told the station that he initially thought the debris was from a nearby barn. But when he was news coverage of the incident with the airplane, he contacted the FAA.

The FAA said Thursday that representatives from Delta were traveling to Tennessee to recover the part. No other debris has been found.
