Plane Evacuated In Sydney After Bomb Threat

Believed To Be A Hoax

More than 100 people were whisked from a Pacific Blue 737 in Sydney, Australia Thursday night, after a bomb threat was called in to the airline.

The aircraft had just arrived from Fiji. While it was enroute, an anonymous caller told Australian Federal Police there was a bomb on board the plane.

The aircraft parked at a remote spot on the airport grounds... and passengers were searched and questioned as the New South Wales Police bomb squad conducted what they called an "exhaustive" search of the aircraft.

But when it was all said and done... investigators found no bomb.

"It was all found to be safe, there was nothing of interest noted in that luggage, so we are now calling it a hoax," Sydney Airport commander Derek Schagen told the Sydney Morning Herald.

The all-clear was sounded about two hours after the plane landed.
