Trump: Boeing Has Cut The Price Of The New Air Force One By $1 Billion

Remarks Come At Rally In Melbourne, FL Saturday

President Donald Trump says he has convinced Boeing to cut the price of two new Air Force One 747 aircraft by a billion dollars, after only about an hour of negotiations.

The Blaze reports that Trump made the claim during a rally in Melbourne, FL on Saturday. Speaking to a crowd of more than 9,000 people, Trump said he has secured the price reductions from Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg.

The Washington Examiner reports that Trump said during the event “We’ve got that price down by over $1 billion and I probably haven’t spoken for more than an hour on the project. I got the generals in who are fantastic … but I told Boeing that isn’t good enough, the price is still too high.”

Trump said that he still does not understand why two identical airplanes are needed in the Air Force One fleet. One aircraft typically flies as a decoy in the Presidential convoy, particularly on flights to foreign countries.
