Aerobatic Displays At U.K. Air Show Scotched

Paperwork For CAA Review Apparently Got 'Lost In The Mail'

When all else fails ... blame the postal service, we suppose. In this case, it's the U.K. postal service that seems to have lost some very important paperwork for the Cromer Carnival Air Show.

The issue came to light when the Wildcat Aerobatic Team, which was supposed to have performed at the event held each year in Cromer on the east coast of England, posted on their Facebook page that they would not be flying at the show. After the accident in 2015 at the Shoreham Air Show, the U.K. CAA put much tougher standards into effect for flying displays, and requires a lot of paperwork.

The Eastern Daily Press reports that the paperwork for the Cromer Carnival apparently got lost in the mail. That left the Wildcat team grounded.

The Red Arrows did perform, however, as they are covered by a different set of rules than civilian acts.

The Wildcat team posted that the issue "is between the Cromer Carnival Committee and the CAA." They were informed on Tuesday morning, the same day they were to perform, that the display had been canceled.
