American FAs Want 30 Rock Banned From Flights

But Airline Is Not In Charge Of In-Flight Entertainment Offerings

American Airlines' flight attendants union  is still fuming about actor Alec Baldwin's Twitter blasts about his recent experience on an AA flight and his less-than-sincere "apology" on Saturday Night Live ... so much so that they have asked that the actor's show 30 Rock be banned  from the airline's in-flight entertainment.

The only problem is NBC determines what shows it offers to American, according to E! Online.

The popular actor donned an American Airline pilot's uniform for last week's edition of SNL after he was kicked off an American flight for not shutting off his cell phone when asked by the flight crew. In the sketch, his airline captain character apologized to the actor, saying "Mr. Baldwin is an American Treasure," and added that "Mr. Baldwin was playing a game 'for smart people'." He also took a swipe at the FAA's policy banning electronic devices during certain phases of flight, saying "...Would you really get on an airplane that flies 30,000 feet in the air if you thought a Kindle switch would bring it down? Come on it’s just a cruel joke perpetrated by the airline industry."

CNN reports that the Association of Professional Flight Attendants has asked that the airline remove 30 Rock from its lineup. Union spokesman Jeff Pharr said of the Baldwin incident "The crew responded as they have been thoroughly trained to do so by the FAA as safety professionals onboard the aircraft."

Baldwin's Twitter account was deactivated following his social media tirade against the airline.
