Aircraft Went Down On Approach To Landing Causing Wide Destruction In A Village

A Turkish cargo 747 has gone down in the village of Dacha-Suu in Kyrgyzstan, resulting in the fatal injury of as many as 37 people, many of them on the ground.

The plane had at least four pilots on board, according to Sky News. It was attempting to land at about 0730 local time in a dense fog at Manas Airport when the accident occurred.

Local officials said the plane "ploughed through" the village for several hundred feet, causing damage to at least 15 buildings. The French news service AFP reports that witnesses said the plane destroyed several houses "killing entire families."

The plane was making a stop at Manas on a flight from Hong Kong ti Istanbul, according to airport officials. The plane, a 747-400, reportedly belonged to ACT Airlines.

In a statement, ACT said its  aircraft "crashed on landing at Bishkek at the end of the runway for an unknown reason."
