EASA Grants MT-Propeller An STC For 3-Blade Prop On Gipps Aero GA8

FAA STC Is In Progress, Company Says

EASA has granted an STC (#10043965) to MT-Propeller for the installation of its next generation 3-blade scimitar composite propeller MTV-9-B/200-58 on the Gipps Aero GA8 powered by a Lycoming I0-540-K1A5 engine. This STC is also valid for the GA8 TC320, and the FAA STC is already in progress.

MT-Propeller Vice President Martin Albrecht says that the installation of the 3-blade MTV-9 Propeller on the GA8 provides a general performance improvement.

Flight tests have shown, that the take-off distance is enhanced by about two percent; climb performance by about three percent; and the cruise performance is enhanced by 2 to 3 knots. All tests are performed with MTOW at SL, ISA conditions.

The MTV-9 for the GA8 weighs about 25 pounds less than the airplane's original 3-blade propeller.

MT-Propeller says composite blades have excellent vibration damping characteristics for almost vibration free propeller operation and a significant inside and outside noise reduction. Bonded on stainless steel leading edges provide best erosion protection of the blades. These special blades are repairable in case of a FOD.

The company says their propellers have no life limitation and their construction provides maximum durability and reliability and they are suitable for all weather operation.
