ANN/Airborne Announces Expansion/Partnership with AMA

Programming Initiative Will Webcast ‘AMA Drone Report’ in Concert with AMA

The Aero-News Network is pleased to announce the first in a series of novel aviation news programming initiatives, via a partnership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA)… one of the oldest and most respected aviation organizations in the world with more than 195,000 members and 2,400 clubs across the country.

While ANN’s Airborne Unlimited daily programs have already spanned over 1000 iterations, and are augmented by another 10000 audio/video features; several topics from the aviation and aerospace world demanded special attention from the company that created the online aviation news business 20 years ago.
Consequentially; the Aero-News Network editorial team has determined that unique programming efforts, dedicated to each of approximately a dozen aviation and aerospace topic/segments should get distinct attention from the aviation world’s most comprehensive news and information service as it expands its coverage this year.

Airborne’s new ‘AMA Drone Report’, will be produced by the Aero-News Network, the first 24/7, 365, real-time online news service, now entering its third decade of daily news production. ANN has produced over 300,000 news stories, 7000 podcasts, 3000 Aero-TV features and just short of 1000 episodes of Airborne Unlimited – the daily aviation/aerospace news program expertly hosted by Bri Cross and Christopher Odom, under the direction of Aero-TV Producer Nathan Cremisino. Scripts are supervised by pilot Earl Downs, an FAA Designated Remote Pilot Examiner.

The fast-paced, mobile-device friendly program will cover the latest news and information of interest to the entire recreational/hobby drone community. Strong production values, extensive B-Roll, and timely interviews will all be a part of the ‘AMA Drone Report’ viewing experience. Shows will be available through AMA, ANN, YouTube, Vimeo, and dozens of other syndication outlets/partners. Other programming efforts and a specific partnership/program dedicated to the Commercial/Industrial Unmanned Vehicle segment (among others) are also scheduled to be announced soon.

Airborne’s ‘AMA Drone Report’ will be produced in cooperation and partnership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics, the leading organization involved in the swiftly growing, albeit turbulent, world of recreational drone flight. Starting first as a weekly program and adding additional programs to each week’s roster as the program matures, ANN expects (like Airborne Unlimited), that The Airborne ‘AMA Drone Report’ could grow to daily frequency in short order – especially considering the way that the personal/hobby drone segment has expanded.

ANN leadership is quite enthusiastic about their partnership with AMA, “AMA has been a part of my aviation life since I was in grade school and an early RC modeler… this organization helped me start my aviation career and I couldn’t be more pleased or proud to work alongside them now, many decades later.” noted ANN CEO/Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell.

AMA, founded in 1936, serves as the nation’s collective voice for hundreds of thousands of modelers and drone enthusiasts who fly for recreation, competitive, and educational purposes. AMA also sanctions more than one thousand model competitions, and an increasing number of non-competitive Fly-in events each year, as well as provide liability insurance and flying sites. AMA certifies official model flying records, and (with AUVSI) is a founder of the ‘Know Before You Fly’ program that advocates responsible drone operation.
“We are thrilled to join with ANN’s Airborne Media programs to help tell the story of the growing model aviation and drone community,” said Dave Mathewson, executive director of the AMA. “We look forward to sharing important education, competition, and safety programming with the broader industry.”

Jim Campbell adds that, “The last few years at ANN have been heady ones and as we continue evolving the Airborne Initiative that has made this and other programs possible, we’re excited by what we’re going to be able to do to bring expert, inciteful, comprehensive coverage to the personal/hobby drone community. Few aspects of aviation have been driving as much progress and activity as has the drone revolution and we are pleased to ratchet up our coverage to meet the immense potential of the market and the significant needs of its pilot/operators.”

The Airborne AMA Drone Report will debut in early 2017 as a weekly program and expand frequency and scope thereafter, though coverage may be augmented at any time by special news bulletins and programming when the need requires. News and story suggestions may be submitted to the Aero-News Network via editor@aero-news.net or via calls to the editorial office at 863-299-8680. Manufacturers, personnel, educators and companies working in the Recreational/Hobby Drone community are strongly encouraged to reach out to ANN to introduce themselves, share insights, and learn more about the ADR effort.
