Airbus A330 Suffers Engine Failure On Takeoff Roll

No One On Board The Thomas Cooke Flight Was Injured

A Thomas Cooke A330 about to depart Manchester, England for the Dominican Republic experienced an engine failure prior to rotation on Monday, and the event was captured by a videographer.

A Thomas Cooke spokesman said that "The aircraft developed an engine fault and returned to stand; as a precaution, the airport emergency services attended the aircraft—but at no time were passengers or crew at risk," according to a report from Yahoo News.

The videographer, Simon Lowe, posted the clip on YouTube, where it has already gathered about half a million views. The plane can be seen accelerating on the runway when a flash is seen in the right engine, which then begins to emit smoke.

The pilot is able to control the airplane and bring it to a stop on the runway.

The airline said that a new aircraft was put in service to take the 325 passengers on to their destination later that afternoon.
