Plane Towing Campaign Banner Suffers Engine Woes

Makes Emergency Landing Near County Fair

Chances are, more than a few people attending the Jefferson County Fair on Saturday will remember the name Ian McFall.

No, not because he's running for political office in that community... but because it was his name being towed behind a small plane that later, well, mc-fell.

The Peninsula Daily News in Washington State reports pilot John Carson, 50, was able to bring his Piper Super Cub in for a safe emergency landing in a field near Port Townsend, WA after the plane's engine gave out as he was flying over the fairgrounds.

"The power just cut out," Carson told the paper.

Fortunately, all is well after the incident... as Carson was uninjured, and the plane appears to have suffered, at worst, minimal damage.

Carson was hired to fly the banner touting McFall for the District 3 county commissioner's seat. He is running against fellow Republican Bob Pontius in next month's primary election.
