Man Steals Airplane, Hits Two Parked Cars

This Is What You Get For Leaving The Keys In The Plane

A 20-year-old Medina (OH) man is in the Ottawa County Jail after he was accused of stealing an airplane and crashing into two parked cars at the Put-In-Bay Airport (OH) Sunday morning.

Aaron M. Anderson was charged with receiving stolen property, operating an aircraft under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs of abuse, reckless operations in an airplane and operating an aircraft without a pilot's license.

The State Patrol said Anderson boarded a 1966 Erechcraft Model 35-C33A single-engine airplane, owned by Raymond Petor of Westerville, at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, the patrol reported. The keys were hidden inside.

The airplane traveled about 40 feet before it struck two parked cars at the airport, the troopers reported. A suspect fled but was caught by the Put-In-Bay Police Department. Anderson refused to submit to a breath test to determine the concentration of alcohol in his system, troopers said.
