The full United States Senate passed the Pilot's Bill of Rights 2 on a unanimous vote Tuesday night.
The bill, sponsored by Senator James Inhofe, had 70 cosponsors from both sides of the aisle. A companion bill must pass the U.S. House and be signed by President Obama before the Pilots Bill of Rights 2 can become law. Contained within the bill is a requirement that the FAA revise the appropriate regulations to comply with the law. XCOR Director of Engineering and acting CTO Michael Valant announced recently that his team had reached an important milestone in the development of the reusable 5K18 Lynx main propulsion rocket engine. Valant said his engineers were able to 'close the loop' of the thermodynamic system under test conditions, a key technology for the Lynx sub-orbital vehicle. If you asked the question, can a Lancair be made better, RDD Enterprises says yes? They have recently announced a major upgrade for the Lancair-4 and 4-P airframes. The conversion has been dubbed LX7. It replaces the original wings, aft fuselage and tail with new components utilizing lighter and stronger materials as
well as modern airfoils with improved slow flight and stall characteristics. All this -- and MORE in today's episode of Airborne!!!
