Atlantis Move From Processing Hangar To VAB Scheduled

Final Shuttle To Make The Trip Between The Facilities

We're going to be hearing about a lot of "lasts" from the Kennedy Space Center over the next couple of months. One of those is set for Tuesday, May 17th. At that time, space shuttle Atlantis' is scheduled to be moved from its processing hangar to the Vehicle Assembly Building. The first motion of Atlantis for rollover is scheduled for 0800 EDT.

Inside the Vehicle Assembly Building, Atlantis will be attached to its external fuel tank and twin solid rocket boosters, which already are on a mobile launcher platform. The date and start time for the move is subject to change depending on shuttle Endeavour's scheduled launch on Monday, May 16.

The STS-135 mission will carry the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module with supplies, logistics and spare parts to the International Space Station to help sustain station operations after the shuttles are retired later this year.
