Robert Friedrichs New Director Of Nevada Aerospace Hall Of Fame

Hall Co-Founder Recently Retired From The National Nuclear Security Administration

In December 2010, Robert E. Friedrichs (pictured), co-founder of the Nevada Aerospace Hall of Fame (NVAHOF), was recognized  for his distinguished service to the national security of the United States. This past month Robert retired from the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) after 47 years working in support of at the Nevada National Security Site, previously known as the Nevada Test Site (NTS).

Robert's farewell to that phase of his life included various events where he received two a folded American flags, one flown over the NNSA Headquarters and all nine NNSA Site Offices, and one previously flown over the Nevada National Security Site and Nellis Test and Training Range. Robert also received the NNSA Distinguished Career Service Award and NNSA Gold Medal for distinguished service in the national security of the United States. The NNSA Gold Medal is the highest medal awarded given by the NNSA Administrator.

In retirement, Robert has been tapped to succeed the current Director of the NVAHOF, as the organization initiates the establishment of student scholarships for Nevada's top aerospace students, and otherwise organizes and conducts educational activities. To this end, Friedrichs and TD Barnes, the current NVAHOF Director, have established strong affiliations with the state's educational institutions plus leaders and historians within the civilian aviation and aerospace industries, military, and other agencies operating in Nevada. Friedrichs, Barnes and the excellent staff and board of directors are already planning the Hall of Fame inductions for this coming year, and seeking the funding for the event, as well as the various student scholarships to be awarded our future crop of aviators and engineers.
