Embraer Delivers 25th Super Tucano Trainer To Colombia

Completes Order From Turboprop's First Foreign Customer

Embraer delivered the 25th Super Tucano turboprop to the Colombian Air Force (FAC) Monday, in a ceremony held at the Company’s headquarters, in São José dos Campos, Brazil. The event marked the conclusion of the deliveres that began in December 2006 to the aircraft’s first foreign customer.

The Super Tucano went into operation with the Brazilian Air Force (Força Aérea Brasileira – FAB) in December 2003 for pilot training and for operational missions. Two years later, Embraer signed a contract with the Colombian Air Force for 25 airplanes. The agreement included an advanced training system and operational support, with TOSS (Training and Operation Support System) ground stations, and was the first export of this aircraft.

The Super Tucano is the evolution of the single-engine, tandem-seat Tucano military turboprop, around 650 of which are in service with 15 Air Forces, worldwide.

The multi-purpose aircraft provides training and mission effectiveness at low acquisition and operating costs. The aircraft offers basic to advanced training and weapon familiarization, with flight simulation. The airplane may also support counter-insurgency (COIN) missions.
