Aero-TV: A Massive Oshkosh Update -- Pipistrel, XCom, Panthera, FLEX, and More!

Sport Aviation Powerhouse Wows Flyers With Amazing Variety Of Exciting Airframes

Pipistrel has long been known for affordable flying fun... but their latest offering was meant to be a revolutionary aircraft to those looking for a truly affordable training aircraft.

Seriously; the main differences from the "normal" Pipistrel aircraft and the new Pipistrel ALPHA Trainer aircraft is that the aircraft has been designed from the ground up for flying school operations. The aircraft has a reduced wingspan to make hangarage easier; there is a new more robust undercarriage and shorter nose leg offering improved visibility from the front of the aircraft.

Pipistrel also released the first of the new Pipistrel Sinus FLEX aircraft to the US market at AirVenture. Based on the standard Pipistrel Sinus aircraft with a 50-foot wingspan the Sinus FLEX has the ability to remove the outer wingtips and fit smaller wingtips to configure the aircraft the same as the 40 foot Virus aircraft. The option essentially gives you to aircraft in one.

Pipistrel calls its in-development Panthera, "a revolutionary 4-seat General Aviation airplane, capable of flying 4 people for 1000 NM, cruising at 200 kts, burning only 10 gallons of fuel per hour. With full composite construction with titanium retractable undercarriage, enhanced comfort and parachute rescue system standard, Panthera can be equipped with the conventional, hybrid, or all electric propulsion system."
