American Legend Aircraft Company Offers 'Cash For Junkers' Program

Trade In Any Old Airplane On A New Legend Cub

Were you feeling left out of the "Cash for Clunkers" program? Does "Cash for Appliances" not stir the need in you for a new washing machine? Try this on for size. American Legend Aircraft Company announced Tuesday its "Cash For Junkers" rebate program offering $4,500 back on the purchase of a new Legend Cub. The Legend Cub is an FAA-certified light-sport aircraft that carries two persons and sips a low 4.5 gallons-per-hour, among the lowest of any airplane. To receive the rebate, customers must trade-in an older aircraft, operable or otherwise.

The hope for the American Legend "Cash For Junkers" program is to help boost aircraft sales, despite the down economy. The American Legend plan is to provide a $4,500 rebate to customers who purchase a new aircraft and deliver an otherwise out-of-use aircraft, irrespective of its current operating condition. General aviation aircraft play an important role in the U.S. Countless aircraft are used to accomplish every day tasks while many more are operated for recreational purposes. The current nationwide push for increased environmental awareness has sidelined many plans for aircraft use in the U.S., where the general aviation has always held global leadership role.

The "Cash For Junkers" program is named for its reference to the now defunct Junkers & Co., a major German aircraft manufacturer that produced some of the world's most innovative and best-known airplanes over the course of its fifty-plus-year history in Dessau, Germany. American Legend Aircraft Company produces today's most popular American-manufactured light-sport aircraft. The history of the Cub's design goes back to 1927, when the Taylor Brothers Aircraft Company was formed to produce and market a small, high-wing, two-seat monoplane. The design endures today in the Legend Cub.

The "Cash For Junkers" rebate applies to the purchase of any model American Legend manufactures, including the kit-built Texas Sport. All are designed for sport, recreation, and training. One of the goals of light-sport is to drive demand for new technologies, including fuel efficiency. With its O-200 lightweight engine, the Legend Cub features a proven engine incorporating the latest in engineering and efficiency. The Legend Cub incorporates modern materials and the most advanced avionics available today.

"'Cash for Junkers' is good for the economy, better for the environment, and most fun in a Legend Cub," stated Kurt Sehnert, GM of American Legend. He continued, "There have been skeptics who weren't sure that now is the time to buy. Our rebate incentive is good for the economy, good for energy independence and great for pilots. We are giving them a chance to speak with their wallets. We intend to spur sales in this sluggish economy."

Legend Cub On Floats

With the "Cash For Junkers" incentive, it makes sense to purchase a brand new airplane. Many have enjoyed countless hours flying in older aircraft. The next useful life of these aging aircraft might be well spent in educating new pilots, and non-pilots, of the benefits of flying general aviation aircraft. American Legend Aircraft Company will donate aircraft collected under the program to museums or schools for the purpose of educating about flying's contribution to history, and its place in our future.

The Legend Cub is S-LSA certified, designed for two persons, and powered by a single piston-powered engine. The Texas Sport is an aircraft kit derived from the American Legend Cub. The Texas Sport can be certified to 1,600 lbs. gross as an amateur-built aircraft, or it can be certified to 1,320 lbs. and flown with Sport Pilot privileges.
