Universal Avionics Joins Forces With Rockwell Collins

Companies Join To Provide Value And A Growth Path To Future Technologies

Universal Avionics has joined forces with Rockwell Collins to bring an affordable, integrated Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out solution to Business Aircraft operators.

The solution was designed to allow operators to add the Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D) Mode S Transponder to their Universal Avionics SBAS-Flight Management System (FMS) installation to meet the ADS-B Out mandate. In addition, operators are able to equip for Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV).

Universal Avionics SBAS-FMS is an approved ARINC 743A position source, required for ADS-B Out compliance. As the foundation of the ADS-B solution, it interfaces with all ADS-B transponders including the commonly used Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D).

“The biggest value of this package is that operators receive an integrated SBAS-FMS,” said Carey Miller, Universal Avionics Manager of Business Development. “While providing ADS-B Out compliance, an important feature of our combined solution is that it also provides a path to future technologies and mandates such as LPV and data link,” he added. “Other solutions only address ADS-B Out.”

“We are proud to be working with Universal Avionics as customers worldwide equip to fly in modernizing airspace. For operators currently flying Universal Avionics equipment, our TDR-94(D) pairs perfectly with Universal’s FMS to bring proven DO-260B compliant ADS-B.” said Adam Evanschwartz Director of CS Marketing for Rockwell Collins.

At a very reasonable packaged price, operators can have their aircraft modified to include all of the latest mandates, and simultaneously add safety and fuel economy.

Current Universal Avionics legacy FMS operators may be able to keep their Control Display Unit (CDU) and install an SBAS Navigation Computer Unit (NCU) with antenna and Rockwell Collins TDR-94(D) Mode S Transponder for an even more affordable solution.

For non-Universal Avionics customers, Universal Avionics is offering an upgrade incentive program throughout 2015 for operators to trade in their legacy FMS or GPS system for a new, SBAS-capable Universal Avionics FMS.

Universal Avionics will be at Booth 817 during the 2015 AEA International Convention and Trade Show while exhibit halls are open April 9th-10th.
