"We saw the aircraft flying erratically and smoking. After a while it crashed. My first instinct was disbelief. You see them flying around all the time. They are not supposed to crash."

Source: Chief Warrant Officer Thomas Schroeder, a member of one of three helicopter crews honored last week for their efforts to come to the aid of soldiers onboard a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter felled by enemy fire in Iraq earlier this year.
