Airbus Scores CSA Czech Airlines Order For Another Eight A319s

Airbus is letting ANN know that the Czech national carrier CSA Czech Airlines has purchased a further eight A319s, firming up options placed in the initial contract signed with Airbus in April of 2005. CSA has now 'firmly' ordered a total of 20 Airbus single aisle aircraft and holds yet another four on option.

CSA Czech Airlines had selected the A320 Family to replace older generation aircraft in its core European fleet, following a thorough evaluation of both the A320 Family and competing types.

Based in Prague, the airline offers a large choice of flights to Europe, Russia, North America and the Middle East. CSA plans to use these new aircraft to consolidate its services, especially to Russia and Eastern Europe, and to open up new markets. CSA Czech Airlines has chosen a comfortable two-class cabin configuration.

"Airbus forms a key element in the restructuring of our airline and with our ambitious plans for further development. A competitive aircraft fleet is an integral part of this plan" said Mr. Radomir Lasak, CSA Czech Airlines President and Chairman of the Board of Directors.

"It is always a compliment when a successful customer such as CSA orders more of our aircraft," said John Leahy Airbus Chief Operating Officer Customers, "This shows the customer's satisfaction with the A320's advanced technology and efficiency. We thank CSA for their renewed trust in Airbus, and congratulate CSA for their proven track record in punctuality."

More than 5,300 A320 Family aircraft have been ordered to date of which over 3,100 have been delivered to almost 200 customers worldwide.
