NASA Awards Guidance, Navigation And Control Contract

Company Selected To Develop, Analyze Avionics Technology

NASA selected the Charles Stark Draper Laboratory of Cambridge, MA, to provide advanced guidance, navigation and control system development and avionics technology development and analysis at the agency's Johnson Space Center in Houston. The new contract is valued at $45.8 million.

The services provided are primarily under the direction of Johnson's Engineering Directorate for use in the guidance, navigation and control systems of the space shuttle, International Space Station, future spacecraft or other projects that would require such a system.

The services include engineering design, development, integration, test, analysis, verification and validation, certification and spaceflight support activities in the areas of guidance, navigation and control systems, integrated avionics systems and autonomous flight operations. Although the primary focus will be development, the contract also covers anomaly resolution work.

The five-year contract is scheduled to begin Dec. 1 and extend through November 2015. It is a cost-plus-fixed fee, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract.
