Woman Escorted Off Plane With 'Support Squirrel'

Incident Delayed Flight By About Two Hours, Authorities Say

A woman who had booked a flight from Orlando, FL to Cleveland, OH on Frontier airlines had said she would be bringing an "emotional support animal" on the flight.

She did not mention that her companion was a squirrel.

USA Today reports that when she boarded with the animal, she was asked to leave the plane, as squirrels are not allowed as support animals by the airline. When she refused, police were called and she was escorted off the plane.

"Rodents, including squirrels, are not allowed on Frontier flights. The passenger was advised of the policy and was asked to deplane," said Jonathan Freed, director of corporate communications at Frontier Airlines. "When she refused to deplane, Orlando Police were called and everyone was deplaned so police could deal with the passenger. Police eventually escorted the passenger off the aircraft and returned her to the main terminal."

The flight was delayed by about two hours while the situation was resolved, according to the report.

It was not reported whether the woman would face any charges in connection with the incident.
