Agreements Signed For 737s, 777s, 747-8 Freighters
Boeing is showing order book activity at Le Bourget with a range
of its products, but no Dreamliner orders have been announced to
date.
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft
leasing and financing arm of General Electric, has agreed to
purchase two 747-8 Freighters and eight 777-300ERs (extended
range). The 747-8 Freighter is a new model for the GECAS portfolio
of airplanes.
Boeing says it looks forward to finalizing the details of the
agreement.
Aeroflot Russian Airlines said Tuesday it was ordering eight
Boeing 777-300ERs (extended range) jetliners. "The Boeing 777 will
strengthen our long-haul capabilities," said Vitaly Saveliev,
director general of Aeroflot Russian Airlines. "These airplanes
will play a critical role in our network expansion strategy,
particularly the international growth opportunities we expect from
our joint businesses with SkyTeam partners when servicing the Sochi
2014 Olympic Games and the 2018 Football World Cup."
And Kuala Lumpur-based Malaysia Airlines said Tuesday it has
exercised an option to purchase 10 additional Next-Generation
737-800s. The order is valued at more than $800 million at current
list prices. The airline still has purchase rights for an
additional 10 Next-Generation 737-800s remaining from their initial
2008 contract.
Tuesday's announcement was made at the
Paris Air Show by Boeing Commercial Airplanes Vice President of
Sales & Marketing Marlin Dailey and Malaysia Airlines Managing
Director & Chief Executive Officer, Tengku Dato' Sri Azmil
Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz. His Excellency Tan Sri Abdul Aziz
Zainal, the Malaysian Ambassador to France, was also in Paris for
the signing ceremony.
