Enables Digital Interface With Garmin GNS 400W/500W
Sandel Avionics tells Aero-News an upgrade will soon be
available for its SN3308 EHSI that enables the display of GPS
vertical guidance from Garmin GNS 400W/500W series receivers
through the existing digital interface. This will allow current
owners of the SN3308 to take advantage of the upgraded capabilities
of the Garmin receivers without the cost of additional wiring.
The optional software upgrade will be available in the 3rd
quarter of 2008 and is priced at $1,250. The new software also adds
display of a GPS Integrity warning on the SN3308 to avoid the need
to install a remote annunciator. Software upgrades must be
performed by a qualified avionics shop.
"We are pleased to offer this upgrade to our loyal SN3308
customers," said Jerry Henry, Sandel’s Director of Sales.
"The Garmin GNS430 and GNS530 have always been the most popular GPS
installed with the SN3308 and most owners would choose to upgrade
their GPS receivers to WAAS if there was a convenient path offered
to display this enhanced capability on their SN3308. Now our
customers can display GPS vertical guidance on their SN3308 without
the time and cost of changing their aircraft wiring and adding a
remote annunciator."
The SN3308 EHSI was Sandel's first product, and was delivered
from 1998 to 2003. Although no longer produced, repair and support
services are still provided.
The SN3308 has been replaced in Sandel’s current product
line with the SN3500 Primary Navigation Display which features
advanced display technology and is also compatible with Garmin GNS
400W/500W series receivers.
Sandel Avionics is celebrating its 10th Anniversary and will be
demonstrating its products in booths 2147 and 2148 at AirVenture
2008 in Oshkosh, WI, July 28-August 3.
