Canadian Pilot Hospitalized In Post-Air Show Accident

Aircraft Had Performed In The Show, Went Down Later In The Day

A 1942 Interstate Cadet aircraft named "Jelly Belly" (airplane pictured in file photo) went down in Wetaskiwin, Canada Saturday after performing in an air show at the local airport.

The Edmonton Journal reports that as part of the pilot's act, parts are purposely tossed out of the airplane, and the paper says the pilot was flying low over the airport in an attempt to locate his props so that he could gather them up.

Other media sources, including CTV News, indicate the airplane was departing the airport. Dean Millingsley with the Wetaskiwin Airshow Society told CTV news that "one of the pilots lost his engine and the plane hit the ground" after the show.

The pilot, the sole occupant of the airplane when it went down, was reportedly transported to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition. Transport Canada has reportedly created a file for the accident.
