On Board Data Systems (OBDS) Says They Plan To 'Cut the Red Tape'

Roll Out Consulting Service For Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs)

On Board Data Systems (OBDS), a developer of electronic flight bag (EFB) technology, announced a consulting service to aid air carriers and corporate flight operations to plan, create, and certify their own EFB program, including all the necessary regulatory documentation and manuals. The service, unveiled Monday, aims to reduce the time it takes to launch an effective zero paper EFB program from months to weeks.

"While working to help our customers create their own Zero-Paper flight decks, we realized that the cost, study time and volume of regulatory paperwork required to implement EFBs in larger commercial fleets was delaying widespread adoption," says Charles Guerin, President of OBDS. "To solve this problem, we created a consultation program whereby fleet managers are interviewed for relevant information about their fleets. Using predesigned programs, we then produce a set of all the documents you'll need to get your fleet up and running including appropriate sections to be added to the fleet's General Operating Manual, Training guides and MEL, taking into consideration all regional concerns of your aviation jurisdiction. All the work is done with top aviation consultants. When used in conjunction with our MFB. system of centrally-managed electronic flight bags, fleets can now rollout safe, cost-efficient, EFB programs that will get the intended results."

Mr. Huffman brings his extensive aviation experience to the job as a 13,000+ hour pilot, former Director of Operations, Precision Jet Management, Service as the Director, Sales Demonstration Flight Operations for Bombardier Business Aircraft Division, Senior Vice President, Customer Operations for Avolar, Senior Vice President, International for NetJets and Managing Director for the NetJets Europe Operation as well as Flight Standards Captain for the IBM Flight Operation.
