Low And Slow With The Wind In Your Hair ... Or Not If You Choose

Super Legend Early Bird Introductory Price Ends July 31st

With a growing backlog of orders, a substantial number of existing Legend owners have already decided to put their name on a Super Legend. Rich Giannotti, will be taking delivery of the very first production Super Legend at Sebring 2012. He also purchased the very first Legend Cub in 2005. According to Mr. Giannotti, "The case for a Super Legend is very compelling. Legend Aircraft has taken a well proven design and updated it for the 21st century. With a new engine, instrumentation, modern carbon fiber materials, and 21st century ergonomics, Legend has addressed everything that needed to be improved about the traditional Piper." He went on, "Lycoming's new O-233,115 hp multi-fuel engine gives the Super Legend the same power to weight ratio as a traditional 150 hp Super Cub. It does all of this burning less fuel, and allows the flexibility to burn automotive gasoline containing ethanol. That's a real big advantage especially looking at the threats facing 100LL Avgas." A true two seat S-LSA, the new Lycoming provides 115 hp max continuous power, available in all phases of flight. There are no time limits. With a 2,400 hour TBO, backed by Lycoming's global reach, no part of the world is off limits to the Super Legend.

The Super Legend incorporates the latest materials, avionics, power plant and ergonomics. New carbon fiber body-conforming molded seats make sitting in the aircraft extremely comfortable. Providing access to remote areas is what Cubs do best. Getting all your stuff there is now much easier with a folding rear seat. There's also a newly added external baggage door. An Alaska edition with extended baggage area, baggage tubes for carrying fishing poles and firearms is also in the works. Equipped with a Night VFR avionics suite from either Dynon or Garmin, getting out and back to your secret destination will also be much easier. "With doors on both sides of the fuselage, it's like having an open cockpit aircraft that you can seal up if the weather gets cold. It is the best of both worlds," according to Paul Maeder, another Legend owner that has opted for a Super Legend. Those doors are also great for Legend Aircraft equipped with floats. A door on either side allows you to dock on either side, and not have to "walk the wire."

According to Dick Parsons, also a current Legend owner, "A new Legend Aircraft just takes all the hassle away from owning a classic. Being a new plane, with a new engine and avionics, a 12-month spinner to tail warranty, you are not worried about the next annual, compression checks, or when the fabric needs to be replaced. I can just fly with confidence." Parsons, who has owned several Super Cubs, loves the Legend, as they have improved what was already a great design."Being an S-LSA, I also don't have to worry about a medical," he added.

The introductory price of $139,900 for a new Super Legend runs through July 31st. After that, a fully configured Super Legend is expected to cost around $180,000. Orders for the new Super Legend will be accepted at AirVenture Oshkosh from July 25–31, 2011.

American Legend Aircraft Company is the number one selling American-manufactured Light Sport Aircraft—a position held since the category was introduced in 2005. A Legend Cub exemplifies the sport flying experience. Flying a Legend Cub is all about the wind in your hair, the sights and smells from 500 feet AGL. It's about grass strips, low-and-slow, seat-of-the-pants, fun flying. It's a sensual experience where the aircraft and you are one.
