Over 450 Airliners In Operation
Embraer's 170/190 family of E-Jets in operation, worldwide,
recently surpassed the milestone of two million flight hours. Over
450 aircraft fly in service with 50 airlines, in more than 30
countries.
The family’s four jets -- Embraer 170, Embraer 175,
Embraer 190, and Embraer 195 -- now operate on all continents. The
Brazilian planemaker notes the aircraft have achieved a low rate of
flight cancellations arising from technical problems (under 0.2% --
or less than two flights cancelled for every 1,000 made).
"The rapid expansion of the fleet of E-Jets, both in
geographical terms and in the diversity of airlines that are
already operating with this modern jet family, is based on the
enormous flexibility that these aircraft offer. Since they entered
operation, the E-Jets have been an important tool for increasing
the efficiency of the airlines, and for air transportation that
provides superior comfort to passengers," said Mauro Kern, Embraer
Executive Vice President, Airline Market.
Since July, 30 E-Jets sales have been announced to customers in
Austria (NIKI), China (Kun Peng), Mexico (Aeroméxico),
Mozambique (LAM), Saudi Arabia (NAS Aviation), and the Republic of
Montenegro (Montenegro Airlines).
Embraer says the order book for the 170/190 family closed out
the third quarter of 2008 with 865 firm orders and 813 options.
During that period, the list of operators welcomed three new
airlines: Kun Peng, China; TACA, El Salvador; and Virgin
Nigeria.
