Dallas Stars Hockey Team Flight Returns To St. Louis Airport

Cockpit Of The 737 Carrying The Team Filled With Smoke, According To Reports

The plane flying the Dallas Stars hockey team had just left St. Louis Downtown Airport in Cahokia, IL was forced to return to the airport just a few minutes after departure.

The cockpit of the 737 with 50 people on board, including team members and staff, filled with smoke about five minutes after the 11:52 a.m. local time departure. The plane returned to the airport and landed safely.

Fox News reports that airport fire chief Mike Mavrogeorge said that there was no fire on board the airplane, and the smoke might have come from an electrical malfunction.

The team had been in St. Louis for a game against the Blues Saturday night. A backup plane was brought in to transport the team to Los Angeles, where they were scheduled against the Kings on Monday.
