Draken Pilot Ejects From A-4 Following Training Exercise

Was Returning To Nellis AFB When He Punched Out

A Draken International pilot ejected from his A-4 Skyhawk Thursday following a training mission.

The plane went down in the desert following a training exercise with a military weapons school at Nellis Air Force Base, according to the Associated Press. The pilot sustained only minor injuries, and was treated and released at a local hospital and released. Draken did not identify the pilot, but said he was not from the Las Vegas area.

The A-4 Skyhawk jet went down in the desert. There was no damage to anything on the ground, and no one else was injured.

The pilot was described as having more than 20 years experience flying fighter jets. FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said that the agency had been notified of the accident.

Since the accident involved a military exercise, an NTSB spokesman said he did not know to what extent the Board would be involved.

All other aircraft involved in the exercise landed safely.
