RDD Develops Therm-X Ice Protection System For Lancair Legacy

Expands Offerings To Other Experimental Planes

RDD Enterprises, LLC announced Monday the company's latest implementation of the revolutionary Therm-X de-icing system for experimental aircraft. Therm-X is now in the final development stages by RDD for the Lancair Legacy line of aircraft.

"We are excited about the application of the Therm-X technology on yet another Lancair aircraft platform in the Legacy," stated Mark Mahnke Systems Integration Manager of RDD Enterprises. "The growth of the technology in the Technologically Advanced Aircraft environment and the ease-of-implementation has created a broader market of safety-conscious pilots choosing Therm-X as their protection for an inadvertent icing encounter."

Dr. Doug Brunner is the Legacy launch customer for the Therm-X system. "I use my plane for cross country travel in IFR conditions. Having Therm-X de-ice will give me the ability to better deal with inadvertent encounters with icing," remarked Brunner, owner of N241DB.

The use of the latest components provided by Kelly Thermal Systems, allowed RDD's implementation of Therm-X on the Legacy to be simpler with an overall lower parts count and electrically more efficient through newer design switching components and wing heater coupling.

Therm-X on the Lancair Legacy is the latest in a planned line of applications RDD plans for experimental aircraft in 2008. That list includes the development of Therm-X on the Velocity aircraft and the RV10, along with continued development of the Illumin-X, Electri-X, Speed Brakes and SOS (Supplemental Oxygen System) product line.

Therm-X kits for the Lancair Legacy are scheduled to be available before the end of 2007.
