ERAU Engineering Student To Spend The Summer With Daher-Socata

Cory Ravetto Receives Prestigious International Aviation Internship

Cory Ravetto (pictured, right), an aerospace engineering student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Prescott, AZ, campus, will spend five weeks in France this summer working and learning at aircraft manufacturer Daher-Socata. The senior from Bigfork, MT, is one of two recipients of a prestigious scholarship awarded by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and Socata.

Recipients receive a five-week internship at Socata's facility in Tarbes, France, located in the shadow of the Pyrenees Mountains, followed by a week at the EAA Air Academy in Oshkosh, Wis., where they will help Socata during EAA's AirVenture 2010. All travel, lodging, and work experience is included, as well as a side trip to the Airbus facility in Toulouse, France.

"This opportunity with EAA gives a one-of-a-kind experience for these internship recipients," said Nicolas Chabbert, president of Socata North America. "They will spend some time with us in their field of choice, such as marketing, production, organization, design, support, or service."

"I'm really looking forward to it," said Ravetto, who started flying at age 13 and wants to design aircraft or spacecraft control systems after he graduates from Embry-Riddle. "Working with Socata this summer will provide me with real-world engineering experiences in aircraft design and manufacturing."

Ravetto was encouraged to apply for the internship by fellow Embry-Riddle student Karl Parsons, who was awarded the scholarship last year.

The other recipient of this year's EAA/Daher-Socata scholarship is Kylie Fencil of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, a student at Fox Valley Technical College in Grand Chute, WI.
