Plane Carrying British PM Blair Overshoots Miami Runway

All Together Now: Whoops!

The pilot of a British Airways 747-400 that overshot the runway on landing at Miami International Airport Tuesday afternoon will probably never hear the end of it, especially as the plane had a very important passenger onboard at the time.

British Prime Minister Tony Blair was one of 343 passengers and crew onboard flight 209 from London's Heathrow.

CBS News reports the plane ran off the edge of the runway at MIA, and onto the grass. No one was injured, and the plane was able to taxi to the gate under its own power.

There appears to be little to no damage to the 747, although several runway edge lights were broken off by the errant jumbo jet.

Blair, who often travels on commercial flights, was in First Class with his family. British media reports say they are vacationing in Miami.
