SeaPort Airlines Grounded For Good

Aircraft To Be Sold To Satisfy Creditors

Portland's SeaPort Airlines, which for the past eight years has tried to carve itself a niche serving subsidized routes to regional airports, has lost its fight to keep flying.

The Oregonian newspaper reports that a judge ordered that the carrier's Chapter 11 reorganization be converted to Chapter 7 at noon Wednesday. All flight operations ended at 1800 local time Tuesday.

The fatal blow was the collapse of a deal for a line of credit that would have kept the airline flying.

“This is a very sad day for our employees, shareholders, and the communities we serve," said Tim Sieber, president of SeaPort Airlines, in a Facebook post. "I would like extend my heartfelt appreciation to the employee team that I have been honored to lead and who delivered industry leading operational performance. While we made great strides, a successful financial reorganization did not appear possible and we were forced to make the difficult decision to cease operations.”

Customers with tickets on SeaPort Airlines that were purchased with MasterCard or VISA credit cards may apply for a refund through their credit card company. Customers using other credit cards must inquire at their respective credit card companies about refunds.
