How About A 'Virtual' Cockpit View? And "Super First-Class"
Seats?
A new passenger flight information system providing a simulated
view from the pilot's seat is just one of the products being
launched at Aircraft Interiors Expo 2009, which takes place from
March 31 to April 2, 2009 at the Hamburg Messe in Germany.
The Lufthansa Technik Niceview moving map system (above)
provides worldwide, high resolution 3-D maps and virtual flights
designed to create the ultimate flight information and viewing
experience for passengers. It integrates the latest flight
simulation technology and authentic satellite maps so that
passengers feel they are experiencing the view from a window or
from inside the cockpit.
As airlines worldwide grapple with declining passenger numbers,
the industry is reconciling the drive to reduce its costs and
carbon footprint with the continuing need to enhance the passenger
experience... and that focus has turned inward, to revamped
interior accomodations.
The design, fixtures and facilities of passenger cabins are
crucial components of this battle, hence the development of B/E
Aerospace's Super First Class seating. The company will be hosting
an exclusive VIP viewing of its Oasis modular Super First Class
(SFC) Suite as well as two versions of its High-Density SFC Suite
designs. Designed to fit all widebody aircraft, the Oasis suite
allows airlines the flexibility of choosing what level of
exclusivity and privacy they want to offer first class travellers
-- from an 'open-concept' to a 'high-privacy' environment.
Recognizing the tough economic climate for airlines, Airbus will
be focusing on the importance of achieving greater efficiency from
current and future cabins, backed up by displays relating to the
aircraft manufacturer's main product families -- including the
A320, A350 and A380.
The A320 Family Enhanced Cabin offers a quieter cabin, designed
with a more modern look and feel, including better luggage stowage
and is available as a weight-reducing retrofit. Meanwhile, the A350
display will focus on the modular design of the cabin platform and
in particular the efficient integration of galleys and
lavatories.
