MotoArt Doing Art First Class
Donovan vowed to save
them from the furnace. Within minutes, he found himself the owner
of several hundred pounds of B-17 propellers that were about to be
melted. Thus started the adventure that has consumed him.
Donovan Fell III and Dave Hall created MotoArt, a company whose
purpose is to turn otherwise aviation junk into art. They starred
in an eight episode series on Discovery Channel called "Wing Nuts,"
which showed them struggling to get their company off the ground.
Tragedy struck with the sudden heart failure and death of their
friend and costar Timothy Roberts.
MotoArt has changed dramatically since the filming last year. It
moved into new and larger studios adjacent to the Torrance Airport
in Los Angeles. The additional space and the devoted employees have
enabled more spectacular creations.
MotoArt has a new relationship with Saks 5th Avenue to display
their DC-9 Wing Desks in Beverly Hills, Boca Raton, Chicago,
Dallas, Houston, New Orleans and San Diego. They'll be expanding to
other locations in the future.
MotoArt will soon be introducing new art pieces, including
refined versions of artwork seen on the TV show. MK-84 Bomb
Aquariums, C-54 Conference Tables, F4 Phantom mirrors, Grumman
Avenger desks and new Wing Coffee Tables are all in the works.
MotoArt has a selection of first class chairs from L1011's that
have brand new dark blue leather upholstery with extended leg rests
and built in food trays. Prices start at $1500 per set for leather
with cloth chairs starting at $800 per set.
You'll find Donovan and Dave at Lakeland this year, at the
outdoor south exhibit space S-009, showing off some of their latest
works.
