Delta's In The Dog House With This Customer

Navy Wife Says Airline Charged Her Credit Card For Someone Else's Pet

You've probably heard the phrase 'close enough for jazz', and that standard apparently applies when it comes to credit cards at Delta Airlines.

A woman and her husband, a sailor in the U.S. Navy stationed in Jacksonville, FL, recently traveled to Oregon for the holidays. The couple arranged for someone to take care of their 6-month-old puppies while they were away ... which made the $200 charge on her credit card for taking her pets on the plane a big surprise.

Television stations WTLV and WJXX report that Rebecca Stillwell immediately called Delta, and only after extensive conversations learned that there had been a mix-up on her credit card. A supervisor for the airline told her that her number was similar to one for a customer who had taken their pets on the plane, and it was "close enough," so they went ahead and charged her card.

But it doesn't stop there. The supervisor said that since Stillwell could not prove that she had not taken her pets with her to Oregon, they would be unable to refund the charge.

Delta later said in a statement that they were "investigating" the matter. Stillwell says she has cancelled her credit card, and is still waiting for her refund.
