Aero-TV: Mooney In Transition - Mooney’s Vivek Saxena

Focus Is On The Upper End Of The Single Engine Market…

Mooney had their aircraft on prominent display at Sun 'n Fun in Lakeland, FL in April following certification of their new Acclaim and Ovation Ultra aircraft.

Vivek Saxena, who at the time was president and CEO of Mooney Aircraft, told ANN news editor Tom Patton that Mooney is known for performance. He said that for the last decade or so, the company has been listening to customers and the new Ultra aircraft incorporate many of those suggestions.

The most obvious of those is the addition of the pilot's side door, but Saxena said that the airplanes incorporate as many as 50 major and minor upgrades based on customer input. He said that the pilot interface is much better than has been offered in the past, and it focuses on the pilot experience… giving rise to the company slogan "Pilot Perfect".

Saxena said that the M20 holds more than 130 world records, and it is the "fastest piston ever.”

Saxena said that there are 80 engineers working at Mooney's facility in Chino, CA on the next generation of aircraft, which will be introduced in five to fifteen years. He said the company is also discussing the longer-term global economy, and the "sharing economy" that will be important to the future of Mooney Aircraft.
