Quantum3D Announces Mantis Advanced Virtual Simulation Platform

Software Meets A Range Of Simulation Needs From Flight To Ground Vehicle Applications

Quantum3D announced Monday at the I/ITSEC conference and show in Orlando, FL, that its Mantis Real-Time Scene Management software platform will be available as a standalone, software-only product. Previously sold with Quantum3D's renowned Independence IDX series of image generators, Mantis is now available on the desktop for a wide range of PC hardware configurations to match any simulation application, including fixed- and rotary-wing flight simulation, ground vehicle simulation, tank simulation, mission rehearsal, sensor simulation, and more.

"Mantis is an incredibly powerful software platform that has been used for years in many high-end virtual simulations with Quantum3D's Independence IDX Image generators, including the IDX 4000, IDX 6000 and IDX 7000," said Arthur Yan, president, Quantum3D. "Mantis will enable customers to create their own PC hardware configuration that best meets their needs and allow them to most effectively develop simulation applications. This opens up the integration and utilization of the Mantis platform for a large range of applications, including instrument/cockpit familiarization, ground vehicles, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, UAV trainers, and maintenance simulators."

Delivering high-resolution imagery, Mantis features a full range of special effects, sensors, weather, and lighting, along with mission-critical functions such as height-above-terrain and line-of-sight intersection testing. With additional plug-ins, Mantis can support even more effects, including ocean effects, and rotorwash – for an even greater sense of realism. Mantis is equipped with a suite of features to support communication functions, interfacing to peripheral devices and displays, and multi-channel synchronization. For further flexibility, Mantis is fully customizable to provide unique effects and specific features to meet the demands of any simulation and training needs.

Mantis is based on Windows for easy configurability, management and use, and leverages industry standards such as CIGI to interface with host devices.
