Worker's Body Lodged In Airbus 'For Nearly A Week'

In what has to be the "Eeewwww" event of the year, the body of a Dominican Republic airport worker was found lodged in a compartment above a main landing gear assembly in a Skyservice Airbus A320 at Toronto Pearson International Airport.  Authorities report he had been there for "nearly a week."

Maintenance personnel discovered the frozen corpse of Mariano Herrera-Ba, on Saturday, January 11th. He was dressed only in jeans and a sweater. The deceased man has been ID'ed as an aircraft maintenance employee from the Punta Cana airport in the Dominican Republic. The flight originated there, where Herrera-Ba was reported missing last Monday.

There are questions as to whether this was an attempt to enter Canada illegally, or simply a mistake in which Herrera-Ba became trapped in the area without a way out, before the elements killed him enroute. However; no foul play is suspected. A Skyservice spokesman, Sheryn Posen, said "We're very sad for this incident, that's for sure... We feel for this person that was on the aircraft as well as the maintenance crew that did discover him."
