Ardenbrook Sets New Speed And Distance Records

Three Records Fall To Brook's Speedy Citation

Early Wednesday morning, November 1st, pilots Matt Brooks and Alan Cirino representing Ardenbrook Inc tentatively set three news records in the 6614 – 13,228 pound Weight Class flying Matt's Cessna Citation 501 FJ44 Eagle II.

The aircraft departed Hayward, CA and landed around 9 AM EST in Jacksonville, FL. According to Kris Maynard, observer from the National Aeronautics Association (NAA), they set three new records:

  • Trans-Continental speed record
  • Longest Distance Record for weight class
  • Speed Over a Recognized Course - San Diego, CA to Jacksonville, FL

In a release, Maynard said, "The crew and the aircraft performed flawlessly. They stoutly broke the longest distance record on this flight."

The actual numbers haven't been published yet; Maynard says the records won't be official until after the first of the year.

Ardenbrook, Inc already holds another prestigious aviation record. In May of 2004, a flight crew headed by Matt Brooks set a Round-the-World record "West Bound" for the weight class.

Ardenbrook Inc is one of the San Francisco Bay area's ten largest real estate investment companies with holdings in five western states.

Brooks (left seat) earned his pilot's license at age 13. Ardenbrook's chief pilot Alan Cirino has been a professional pilot since 1966. The pair will now pursue three more records in the class:

  • Time to Climb (without payload) to 3000 meters (9842 feet)
  • Closed Circuit Course - 1000 km (539.9 nm)
  • Closed Circuit Course - 2000 km (1079 nm)

The NAA encourages pilots of all levels of experience to set records each year. National and world records can be set in any type of aircraft and for a variety of different tasks – including altitude, speed and distance. Airplane records are classified by engine-type and aircraft weight, making it possible for a variety of aviators – even pilots owning small single-engine planes – to establish a national or world mark.

The flight was sponsored by the NAA, Universal Weather and Aviation, Inc., Williams International, LLC., and Mather Aviation, LLC.
