NBAA, Volunteers To Build Orlando Playground Ahead Of Convention

Partners With KaBOOM! Once Again To Give Something Back

The National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) announced this week that over 200 volunteers from the business aviation community will join with residents from the Orlando area on Saturday, October 4, to build a new aviation-themed playground at Hollowbrook Apartments.

The new playground’s design is based on drawings that local children provided to organizers at KaBOOM!, a non-profit group that specializes in coordinating community playground builds across the country. The playground is one of more than 220 that KaBOOM! will build this year in an effort to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.

This year marks the second time that NBAA has worked with KaBOOM! in an effort to build a bridge between airports and local communities. As ANN reported, NBAA initiated the program ahead of last year's convention in Atlanta, GA.

Under the volunteer effort, outdated playground equipment will be removed to make way for the new playground, which will feature brightly colored slides, a climber, several rock walls, an adventure crawl tube, a catwalk, and several activity panels for the over 200 children living in the Central Florida apartment community.

The build begins around 8:30 am, and is expected to finish around 3 pm... when there will be a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony featuring volunteers, local elected officials, and community leaders, including Orlando city commissioner Tony Ortiz.

Hollowbrook is located near the Orlando Executive Airport (ORL), which will host a Static Display of Aircraft for NBAA’s 61st Annual Meeting & Convention.
